Pilgrimage Tour to Bhutan
Lhading (The Temple of the Flying Gods)
A two hour walk from Drukgyel Dzong is famous for its beautiful
images. The statue of Chenrenzig is believed to have spoken
twice. Lhading was founded after a Tibetan lama sent his
attendant and a donkey to find a lake in Bhutan. The donkey knew
the location of the lake. The donkey stopped at a clearing and
the attendant could see vultures circling in the distance. He
found the lake and threw the sacred rice which the lama had
given him into the lake praying “If this is the lake of destiny,
let the water sink and sand arise.” The next morning the lake
was gone and the temple was built on that spot.
