The Lineage of The Kings of Bhutan:

Urgyen Wangchuck the first king of Bhutan was crowned December 17th 1907.
The first Drul Gyalpo( Dragon King) ruled until 1926.

Jigme Wangchuck was crowned the second Druk Gyalpo in 1926 at age 24. He
ruled until 1952.

Jigme Dorje Wangchuck was crowned as the thrd Druk Gyalpo in 1952 ruling
until 1972.

Jigme Sangye Wangchuck was crowned as the fourth Druk Gyalpo in 1974. The
king abdicated in late 2006.

Dasho Jigme Khesar Wangchuck has been named as the fifth Drul Gyalpo and
will be formally crowned at an auspicious date in the future.
