Pilgrimage Tour to Bhutan
Drukgyel Dzong
Built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel to commemorate a victory over
the Tibetans in 1644 Drukgyel Dzong was destroyed by fire in
1951. The ruins are now a popular picnic site. The giant
water-driven prayer wheel marks the old trade route to Phari
Dzong in Tibet. In good weather there is a fantastic view of
Mount Jhomolhari.
