Bumdra Monastery

Bumdra is high above Taktsang. Bumdra means ‘the Rock of a Thousand Footprints’. A hundred thousand dakinis (angels) descended here and left their footprints in the rock. In the eleventh century an emanation of Goddess Tara visited here. The main temple is dedicated to Tara.
